OMS oversees and monitors hundreds of apprentices through their work record portal. The portal allows apprentices to enter their daily on-the-job hours and paid-related school hours. Employers are sent the hours each month and are encouraged to grade and provide comments on their apprentice’s performance.
To ensure that an apprentice receives a well-rounded apprenticeship, OMS works closely with the State of Wisconsin Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards along with the contractors that employ the apprentices and the schools and training centers. The OMS staff serves as members of the Joint Apprentice Committees. Joint apprenticeship committees consisting of labor and management trustees provide and actively promote the training and employment of apprentices. OMS also works with high school and technical college educators to keep them updated on apprenticeship opportunities through presentations.
